I was intrigued when I set out to interview four Sydney Catholics who choose to wear veils or scarves as head coverings at Mass and or/make them. I love donning a hat or cap whenever I leave the house but veiling for church settings (though I’m seeing it more frequently among young people) is quite a foreign concept to me. I’II admit, I wondered if it was simply an ultra-conservative, regressive kind of thing.
But slapping labels on people is never super-useful, I find. I vaguely knew a couple of these women already but I’d never spoken to any of them before. All of these turned out to be really beautiful conversations, and the result is this article, with some great photos, at The Catholic Weekly.
