I’ve had a few people ask me what’s happened to my Catholic Weekly column. I took a break for several weeks when I was feeling overwhelmed with general life stuff, but wrote one last week which will probably be in this Sunday’s issue of May 15. It’s on gift ideas for First Holy Communicants or children being confirmed or going for their first reconciliation.
I hope to get back into a rhythm of writing again regularly, maybe not weekly though as I was running out of ideas and inspiration generally. But I hope to remedy that problem, partly by changing up my routine, trying some new things, and spending time doing things that I know I like to do.
I’m doing something next week which might help. I’ve been invited to go to the parish I grew up in to meet with its senior mothers’ group and be the guest speaker at their annual Mothers’ Day high tea. They don’t mind what I choose to talk about. I’m thinking I’ll share some info and open a discussion on something on St Edith Stein and spiritual motherhood, or one small aspect of Pope Francis and Amoris Laetitia, which I’ve been spending a fair bit of time with lately.
I’ve been assured that the ladies’ expectations of me aren’t too high – a fact that I find both very reassuring and quite funny. I’m sure I won’t disappoint them, especially if I ask my daughter to make her awesome chocolate caramel slice to take along with me…:)
